Chicos, como dijo Alan, fui formal y Tim Borgmann me contesto. Muy amable el muchacho. Aqui les dejo la contestacion porque seguramente a mas de uno le puede servir.
Hi Alejandro,
first thank you for your kind comment on my work.
Just to get sure, you are pointing to the intro I did for the XSI 7
launch, where the abstract shape is growing out of the hand? And what
excatly do you want to know?
Here is a short description: I first did a particle simulation (btw, at
this time with the old particles). Afterwards I meshed them with the free
metaball addon from Michele. Today this should be more easy posible with
ICE particles and for example the emPolygonizer addon from Eric Mootz. The
wires and pins were animated by hand. Regarding the look of the 'fluid'
stuff I used a rather complex material for the translucent (blue) stuff,
based on different fractals, textures and so on. I used the
mib_glossyrefraction to get some kind of depth feeling inside the material
(but without glossy rays because of the rendertime). The other material is
a more or less high reflective dark material (using incidence and such
stuff). So I rendered 3 Passes, one with the ice like material, one with
the dark one and one as a mask (a mixture of a weightmap and some fractal
stuff) to mix both in the post. You can also render it at once, but due to
the short timeline I decided to mix both materials in the post.
I hope this answer your question a little bit.
Cheers
Tim
